Helping Your Boyfriend Endings: All 4 Explained

Four endings, three decisions that matter. This guide is based on the game's own script logic.

Spoiler warning. Spoilers ahead. This page explains story branches and endings.

The four endings at a glance

EndingNameWhat it takes
1My boyfriend is the bestRefuse Ian's pill on the first night, or take it but do not use the scalpel on Day 3.
2Nobody's HomeUse the scalpel and survive, then leave through the living door without giving Oliver the right address.
3The Empty CageFind the key, use the phone, give Oliver the right address, and keep Ian's affection under 40.
4Moving ForwardSame as Ending 3, but with Ian's affection at 40 or higher.

The three decisions that split the story

  1. The pill on night one. A stranger offers you a pill. Refuse and the story heads for Ending 1. Take it and the investigation route opens.
  2. The scalpel on Day 3. If you took the pill and got Ian's scalpel, you choose whether to use it on Adrian. "Don't" ends in Ending 1.
  3. The phone call. After the fight you can reach a locked room with a phone. Calling Oliver with the right number and the right address is what unlocks Endings 3 and 4.

Affection numbers that matter

Choices that trust, thank or stay close to a brother raise that brother's affection. Choices that insult, refuse or recoil lower it. Full details are in the walkthrough.

Game overs are not endings

Run out of time in a timed scene, or fail the struggle minigames in the final fight, and you get a game-over scene instead of an ending. You restart from your last save. Easy difficulty gives you more time. See the minigames guide.

Frequently asked questions

How many endings are there in Helping Your Boyfriend?

There are four endings. There are also game-over scenes when you fail a timed minigame, but those are not counted as endings.

Which ending is the best?

That depends on what you want. Ending 4 is the most hopeful, with Ian cared for and the two of you still in touch. Ending 1 is the easy route and the most unsettling in hindsight.

Can I get every ending in one save?

Not from one save, but a manual save before the first-night pill and another before the final scalpel choice lets you reach all four quickly.
